WW2 German pigeons case

In the early 90’s I bought this case in a Dutch Militaria auction house.
It attracted me, because it was something different piece of field gear.

The case is meant to transport at least 4 pigeons.
These were used to send messages to headquarters when other communications failed.

I haven’t found any markings in the wicker or wood, but never put much effort in it to find any.
The case is in light used condition.
