WW2 British life jacket light

This is a WW2 British life jacket light as worn by Pilots and Bomber crew.
It is a later type that replaced the early war wooden versions.
In the green canister was placed a battery that would power the red lamp.

The red lamp had a crocodile clasp, so it could be attached to the preferred strap.

These lamps were used to let search parties know were the downed person was in the night.
When the light was activated, it would be operative for 12 hours.

Nice small personal item in very good condition with readable label.
