WW2 U.S. T1 ball and clevis chinstrap (2)
This is a new old stock WW2 produced U.S. T1 ball and clevis chinstrap.
Meant for the M1C paratrooper helmet.
These were developed to prevent that a soldier got strangled by an enemy when he pulled the helmet to the back, but also as a safety precaution when the soldier was near an explosion.
These were developed and released during world war 2, but not many evidence that they were really used during world war 2 in combat.
Korean war and Vietnam war for sure.
